Real Love

Real love between two souls is, I believe, love's highest form... it is a best and deepest friendship, based upon unselfish caring for another. Real love is mental, physical, and spiritually all encompassing. Real love is not always easy. Nor should it be, as real love is a thing of utmost value. Real love, though unconditional between those who share it, is not free in the casual sense. Though it cannot be bought or sold at any price, it must be earned through the way in which we live our lives and treat others. In a rudimentary sense, it's karmic... although it's really more than that.

Real love between two souls is, I believe, one of God's greatest gifts, and is part of the design of the universe - every soul having its mate. As such, it is also one of life's most elusive prizes: finding one soul amongst billions is like trying to find the brightest star in the heavens… a search made more difficult by the radiance of others which may appear brighter merely because they are closer… or in the way.

Because real love between two souls is so rare, yet so incredibly beautiful a thing to find, many of us search far and wide, often in the wrong places, often recklessly... just for a glimmer of light, a sign. And when we don't find it immediately, or get hurt as a result of the relationships which, through hurt and loss are meant, actually, to teach us how to better recognize real love, we sometimes sell out and find some way to ease the pain of loneliness, if only temporarily. Sometimes we even give up the search entirely and convince ourselves such love does not exist. In either case letting our selves believe the world to be a dark place, life becoming a cold contest… where one might as well take what one can get.

But to succeed in the game called life, one must first glean the rules. Therein lies the secret behind the search for love: the path to true love is a path of faith. Faith in God and the design of the universe. Your real love will naturally move close to you as you become ready to meet him or her. But remember this: real love is about substance, and substance is not about immediate sense gratification or selfish behavior. Every action which displays a lack of faith in real love shows you haven't learned yet and are not ready. And will blind you to recognizing your real love, even if he or she was standing beside you. And will, effectively, push that soul farther away. Conversely, patience, hope, strength of spirit, and unselfishness, especially when demonstrated by actions which show faith in finding real love - rather than doubting its existence or giving in to creature comforts of the moment - will bring your real love closer. This goes against much of what hip media, music, and even many of the varied philosophies of underground culture tell us about love. Specifically, a few words of caution: many of the behaviors which encourage us to experience the physical pleasures of love and belonging outside the context of a real, loving, one soul to one soul relationship are, by nature, selfish. Real love is not about drug hugs and back rub chains. Though real love can manifest as the most intensely passionate and beautiful physical experience in life, that path is for one soul to one soul only… and only when spiritually true. Real love between two people is the real ecstasy... accept no imitations! But if you don't believe me, live life for a while and see for yourself. Try whatever else you feel might bring you real love and happiness or serve as a substitute. Then, when you realize that all is not good… or that something is missing… give this path a try. You do owe it to someone... two people, actually: yourself and your love, who may already be standing right next to you. Don't miss the forest for the trees.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is Love."
